Police Fire Departments Respond to Union Station

A large police and fire response was seen around Union Station in Chicago after witnesses reported a locomotive fire on Thursday afternoon.

A large number of police and fire vehicles responded to Union Station in the late stages of the Thursday evening commute to reports of a fire, which occurred on the Metra BNSF line.

The agency says that two trains, number 1285 and 1279, which were set to depart Union Station and head outbound, were not going to run due to “mechanical failures.”

Police and firefighters remain on the scene.

We’ll update this story with further developments.
