Attempted Murder Charges Approved for Man Who Allegedly Shot ISP Trooper
According to state police, 43-year-old Wheeling-resident Volodymyr Dragan is facing attempted murder charges after shooting a 32-year-old trooper that was executing a search warrant at a Wheeling home.
Felony aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated assault charges have also been approved against Dragan, according to state police.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening, state police responded to a Wheeling residence to execute a search and arrest warrant for Dragan, according to a statement. During the execution of the warrant, shots were fired, and a state trooper was hit. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and was released Friday.
Dragan was later taken into custody.
Dragan will appear at a bond hearing on Saturday, according to police.
