Severe Storms Possible Tuesday in the Chicago Area

Potentially severe thunderstorms could hit the Chicago area on Tuesday, possibly in the late morning to early afternoon hours.

The same storm system is expected to push through Iowa overnight, and could reach the Chicago area by around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Locations south and west of a line from Dixon, Ill. to Rochester, Ind., are at the highest risk for strong to severe storms, and could potentially see damaging winds, according to the National Weather Service.

However, the potentially strong storms could also impact other parts of the Chicago area.

After the storms pass through on Tuesday, conditions are expected to be partly cloudy, warm and humid with highs in the middle to upper 80s.
