Rescue Crews Searching Lincoln Park Lagoon
First responders were searching the Lincoln Park Lagoon on Saturday evening.
At around 7 p.m., multiple rescue crews were responding to the area of 2300 North Stockton Drive. An NBC 5 photographer on scene reported that a large crowd had gathered in the area.
While fire officials have yet to release details of the incident, a helicopter was spotted over the water.
North Avenue Beach, the beach closest to the search area, had a swim ban in effect Saturday evening, according to the Chicago Park District’s website.
Swim advisories or bans were in place at beaches across the city on Saturday. Just one day earlier, a Beach Hazard Warning was in place due to life-threatening waves and rip currents.
