$4.9M Settlement Expected in Deadly Chicago Police Chase

The city of Chicago‘s law department was expected to recommend Thursday morning a multi-million dollar settlement to the family of a woman killed in a 2017 Chicago police chase.

Chequita Adams was killed in a bizarre incident, as Chicago police chased fellow officer Taylor Clark down Roosevelt Road. When the chase reached Kostner Avenue, Clark ran a red light, resulting in a violent crash where both he and Adams were killed.

The Chicago Law Department was expected to recommend payment of $4.9 million to Adams’ family.

The incident prompted a two-year investigation. In July, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability recommended the firing of Officer Jamie Jawor, who was behind the wheel in the deadly chase.
