1 Injured in Gary Officer-Involved Shooting


One person was injured in an officer-involved shooting Sunday evening in Gary, according to police.

At approximately 5:02 p.m., officers were called to the 2400 block of Roosevelt Street for the report of a man with a gun, according to a news release from the Gary Police Department.

The male suspect refused to follow officers’ orders, and shots were fired, police said. Although police didn’t specify if the victim sustained injuries from gunshots, a spokeswoman said the victim was taken to the hopsital for treatment.

No officers were injured in the incident. The Lake County Sheriff’s Department will handle the investigation into the shooting
