Bears vs. Rams: Chicago Looks to Shine in Primetime Showdown
The Chicago Bears are hoping to get back to the .500 mark on Sunday night as they take on the Los Angeles Rams in a nationally-televised contest at the LA Coliseum.
The Bears, who currently sit at 4-5 on the season, are well outside of the NFC playoff picture, but a win over the Rams on Sunday would give them a key win over one of the teams that’s also in the hunt for a wild card berth, and provide them with a boost from winning two contests in a row.
As the Bears go into the game, they will be without a key member of their defense, as middle linebacker Danny Trevathan will miss the game with an elbow injury. Trevathan didn’t make the trip with the team to Los Angeles, but his absence will be sorely felt on a defense that has looked to him for leadership during the season.
The Bears will also be without tight end Adam Shaheen and linebacker Isaiah Irving, both of whom were ruled out for the contest on Friday.
Shaheen’s absence is especially tough to swallow, as the team will be forced to rely on Ben Braunecker and Bradley Sowell for any use of the tight end in the passing game.
Cornerback Duke Shelley, offensive lineman Alex Bars, defensive lineman Abdullah Anderson, and wide receiver Riley Ridley are all inactive for Sunday’s game.
