Thousands of protesters in Chicago joined a rally Thursday night in Federal Plaza in hopes of protecting the Robert Mueller Russia investigation in the wake of President Donald Trump’s firing Wednesday of Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
The Chicago protesters, who were marching toward Trump International Hotel & Tower at 401 N. Wabash Ave., join protesters nationwide Thursday who fear that Trump’s appointment of Matthew Whitaker as Mueller’s replacement threatens the investigation.
“We’re mobilizing immediately to demand accountability, because Trump is not above the law,” according to the website trumpisnotabovethelaw.com, the site where a nationwide call to action sparked Thursday’s protests.
