Snow Piles Up Across Chicago-Area

The snow is piling up across the area, and places south of the city are getting hammered as a winter storm moves through.

The storm, which has already dumped over six inches of snow in areas south of the NBC 5 viewing area, is snarling traffic and causing hazardous conditions throughout the region.

Here are the latest snowfall totals as of 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon:

Aurora: 2.6 inches

Batavia: 2.4 inches

Bourbonnais: 2.8 inches

Carbon Hill: 2.3 inches

Elk Grove Village: 1.1 inches

Herscher: 1.4 inches

Lansing: 1.5 inches

Midway: 1 inch

New Lenox: 1.8 inches

Ottawa: 2.5 inches

Palos Park: 1.5 inches

Peotone: 1.5 inches

Peru: 1.3 inches

Riverwoods: 1.8 inches

Rockford: 1 inch

There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for some areas south of Chicago that will last until 3 a.m. Sunday morning.
